Frequently Asked Questions
Why in the Versa a petrol vehicle is compared to other manufacturers launching diesel MPVs?

Petrol engines are actually cheaper to run for most purpose because the vehicle price and maintainence cost are both lower. Petrol engines provide a more comfortable ride Moreover with the government of Indis planning the dismantling of APM(Admininstered price Mechanism) all the government subsidies on petroleum products will be removed. This will result in narrowing down the diesel and petrol prices. Thus even other manufacturers are now launching petrol MPVs.
With a small bonnet is it safe to drive this vehicle on highways?

With the high seating and smaller bonnet, the visibility is greatlyu improved which in itself will prevent occurance of accidents . In addition to standard safety features like Side Impact Beams on all doors, special reinforcements are provided in the body including an A-A bar between the two A pillars. You may also be assured by knowing that Every ( Versa namesake in Japan) meets and surpasses stringent Japanese regulations.
With a 1300 cc engine, with 8 people, A/C on wouldn’t the Versa be an underpowered car?

1300 cc is only the Volume of the cylinders , the power of the engine is actually the bhp and torque , these of the Versa are comparable to any other MUV. In addition, the vehicle is a rear wheel drive, which increase its performance over gradients. We are sure that the performance of he engine will exceed your expecations. This is experienced with a test drive, which we would be very happy to provide to you at your convenience.
The Qualis has a higher torque than Versa?

As a characteristic of diesel vehicles , initial torque is high, but it is seen that bhp of the versa is higher than Qualis at 82 bhp. This along with a lower weight of 930kgs ensures that the Power to Weight Ratio of the Versa (88.17) is much higher than that of the Qualis(49.8 ). This ensures that the engine provides great pulling power throughout the rpm range of the engine. The Qualis diesel engine is a very old generation engine and though it has higher torque it does not translate into acceleration or pulling power. The Versa on the other hand has instant pickup.(Give the customer demonstration of the vehicle and take him for a test drive)
In such a long car, wouldn’t the single AC be ineffective for the pasenger seats at the back?

The Single AC version provides excellent cooling, only it takes a little more time for the cooling to speard to the rear seats in comparison to the Twin AC. Single AC is recommended for those applications where luggage is frequently carried and the third row of seats are not occupied by passenger.
Wouldn’t the double AC lead to higher fuel consumption?

As the Twin AC is powered by a single 130cc efficient compressor the fuel consumption will be comparable to that of any vehicle with a single AC. The twin AC will consume about 3-5% more than the single AC but may not be noticeable in actual conditions due to low temperature AC-cut-off.
Leg Space in rear seat very less

All 3rd row seats offer less leg room, one cannot compare the 3rd row to the 2nd row of the same car. The display of the vehicle in the showroom should be done with 3rd row sea folded and loaded with different items and vehicle should be presented in 5+3 or 4+3 mode. Also the concept of Versa designed as a family car to be explained. All people travelling are not of the same build and stature and adjustments are easily possible. If this is an issue with the customer , the SDX model can be offered.SDX model gives the flexibility of adjusting the leg space between 2nd row and 3rd row as per the requirement of the customer.
More effort required while putting back the spare wheel

Having the wheel located below , gives the advantage of replacing the flat tyre without removing the luggage or displaying the rear seat passengers.Putting the spare wheel back in Versa takes less effort as compared to 1) A2-segment cars where carpet , spare tyre cover removal and refitment is required. 2) MUV segment where the tyre needs to be lifted upto center of the rear door to fit it back.
Can a standard Versa be fitted with A/C? how much would it cost?

The Versa economy variant is ready for fitment of AC. It has tinted glasses and louvers(blowers). In fact it comes fitted with the heater as well. The AC kit is a single AC unit like in the Versa DX. Cost to customer for the Versa AC kit is Rs.39,484.86(taxes extra)
With the 8 Seater, where is the luggage space?

Any 8 seater vehicle has less booth space with all seats occupied. The Versa offers you the flexibility to carry people or luggage depending on the specific need. The luggage space is greatly increased if you fold the 3rd row of seats. This can further be increased by folding selectd portions of the 2nd row, as applicable. Roof Luggage Carrier can also be fitted on Versa and same is available as a MGA( Maruti Genuine Accesory)
The Versa starting model is only a 5-seater why?

The starting Model of the Versa is mainly for taxi use and any 8 seater taxi cannot get a Excise refund. Thus further to the lower price the operator can also benefit greatly from the refund .Also corporate registration is extremely difficult for 8 seaters , this would also affect large fleet buyers.
The the engine is the same as the Esteem, what is the difference ?

The engine of the Versa has the same cubic capacity as the Esteem engine, but is different in the following respects: Difference in Intake Manfold Design and exhaust system design. Difference in ECM calibration. Difference in gear ratios. These difference are provided to ensure increased low end torque that is required to pull the higher payload of the vehicle i.e. more passengers and luggage.
In such a large vehicle suitable for being driven by ladies?

On the contrary , small hood , electronic power steering and low overhangs make this easier to drive than most A2 segment cars. Just to ensure that you experience the ease of driving we would like to give you a test drive. The versatality of this vehicle (differen applications) together with its ease of driving have made this vehicle an international favourite with women.
Is there a higher possibility of the car rolling over at high speeds because of its extra height?

One thing is as such MUVs cannot be compared to cars in stability, but the Versa’s stability is similar if not better than other MUVs. Additionally , the Versa is equipped with special features such as rebound springs in the struts and anti-roll bars in front to ensure even distribution of weight during turning. These features improve cornering stability and also reduce chances of roll while taking turn at high speeds. Another fact that adds to the stability of the Versa is that the engine is located well within the wheel base i.e. between the front and the rear wheels.
With the engine placed below the seats, wouldn’t it lead to over heating for the driver?

Complete protection is provided for the driver from heat as well as engine noise and vibration with a 2-layer seat riser insulation. The quality of insulation is so good, that it is impossible for the driver to know where the engine is located.
What are the uses of the Versa? Isn’t it too large a car for everyday use?

The list of applications for which the Versa can be used is larger than that of any other vehicle in the market, Family car, business car, City car. Even with its great interior space, the exterior dimensions(length and width) of this vehicle is smaller than that of a A2-segment car. This , together with a turning radius of 4.5m ensures that this is really the most suitable car for every day urban use. The low turning radius , high seating and small overhangs ensure that parking and manoeuvering this vehicle would be far easier than any other cars.
